Toyota recalls 94 model year 2017 86 cars to fix ignition key interlocks.

— Toyota is recalling its 2017 86 sports cars (formerly known as the Scion FR-S) for problems with removing the keys from the ignition switches.

Toyota says 94 model year 2017 86 cars may have connectors for the automatic transmission key interlocks that weren't connected before the cars were sold.

A disconnected transmission key interlock makes it possible for a driver to remove the key in gears other than PARK, increasing a chance of the 86 rolling away. However, Toyota 86 cars with key fobs and ignition buttons aren't included.

Toyota dealers will make sure the connectors for the ignition key interlocks are connected when the recall starts in January 2017.

Toyota's number for this recall is G0E.

Owners of 2017 Toyota 86 cars may call the automaker at 800-331-4331.
