— Southeast Toyota Distributors (SET) is recalling more than 3,500 model year 2011-2016 Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner vehicles equipped with accessory hood scoops installed by SET or its dealers.
Southeast Toyota says the adhesive attaching the hood scoop may weaken, allowing the hood scoop to detach from the vehicle. The hood scoop could detach at any time, including while driving, leaving a serious road hazard for other drivers and vehicles.
Toyota and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration didn't release more details about the recall, but Tacoma and 4Runner owners should watch their mailboxes starting August 28, 2017.
Dealers for Southeast Toyota Distributors will make sure the scoops are attached to the hoods, but until then, owners may contact SET customer service at 954-429-2000 and refer to recall number SET17B.
