Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

Regarding to a BMW recall for the passenger seat sensor issue, I have the same problem for my BMW 325I from 2006, but they said it is not covered in the recall. I had the same problem with my car. The passenger seat sensor failed out of the sudden. Should BMW cover this or do I have to pay the replacement out of my own pocket?

Recall subject: Front seat occupant protection mat NHTSA campaign number: 13V564000 component(s): Air bags I went to the local BMW shop to have them check why my airbag warning light was on. They checked a list of some sort in their system and they told me that my car (a 2006 BMW 325I) should be recalled and brought in to have the passenger side airbag. They advised me to contact BMW North America regarding a possible recall for my BMW. I contacted BMW of North America llc and they asked me if I was the original owner and I informed them that I was the second owner and had not bought the car from a BMW dealership. They said that is why I had not received a recall notice for my car. They advised me to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to help obtain a recall notice. Information from a published source states that a consequence of the defect is, should the system fail, in the event of a crash, the front passenger air bag would be deactivated, increasing the risk of personal injury. I need and ask for your assistance in obtaining a recall letter from BMW. Thank you,

The front passenger airbag warning showed up. Took to the shop they charged me $1200 to replace the front passenger seat sensor mat. I see that there is a recall issued by BMW to fix this in 2006 3 series. I want to get my refund for the repairs which I have already got done.

I contacted BMW because there was a recall on 2006 BMW 325xi for a faulty met sensor for passenger airbags. My vehicle is experiencing the same problem but they are telling me it is not part of the recall. I just purchased the vehicle in February of 2013 and have no records of recalls from the previous owner. Please advise if this is part of the current recall...updated 04/07/14

Air bag warning light started to come on with no apparent cause. I took the car to the dealer, and was told that the mat in the passenger seat had failed and needed to be replaced, and that it was a safety issue. Cost was over $1,100 plus tax. I now see that there is a recall for 2006 325xi models with sport seats -- my car does not have sport seats, but had the exact same problem. I believe that all models should be included in the recall.

The airbag indicator light has been activated to what I have read to be due to a crack in the detection mat. I have taken my car to repair shops and all have confirmed the same issue. In the case that there is an accident, none of the airbags will be deployed, or airbags may be deployed without reason. I have grave concerns. I have made two phone calls to BMW with my concern for my safety and the safety of my passengers. BMW states that currently my particular VIN number is not listed on the recalls, but may be in the future. My car has the exact same issues as being reported as the previous two recalls, but since it was manufactured "just before the indicated recall dates" that I will not be reimbursed. If BMW cares about their customers' safety, I would not think waiting by the mailbox for a letter that may or may not arrive to inform me of another letter in March, is at all sufficient. Please let me know if I can do anything else to expedite a solution for my concern. Thank you for your time. I purchased the vehicle one week ago with the airbag and seatbelt lights on the dash, after plenty of research there was a recall done on only the sport seats. After everything I read even the non sports seats, like mine are having the issues as well. BMW needs to fix this issue with all models. I have no clue at this point if the airbags will even go off in the event of a crash. Plenty of complaints on the site about this same issue. Please help

About a week ago, the vehicle passenger airbag and seatbelt warning indicators began to display erratically. They would go on and off at differing intervals. Several weeks ago the indicators both came on and have remained on. Doing some research on the issue, I located a recall notice in 2008 for this exact same issue which included my 2006 325I and another recall in 2013 and that BMW had extended the warranty for this issue for an additional 10 years. The seat mat wiring was determined to be faulty which cause the vehicle sensor to engage the warning/indicator as it could not determine if a passenger was in the seat or not and therefore the airbag would not deploy in case of an accident. I confirmed my vehicle is experiencing the same recall issue from 2008 and 2013 recall with a local BMW shop and was instructed to contact BMW of northamercia becouse based my VIN# it was not part of the recall and I would have to pay for the diagnostic test, parts and repair S out of pocket. I contacted BMW of northamercia and was told that my vehicle make, model and yearwas part of the Nov 2013 recall but could not specify based on the VIN number if my vehicle qualified. "?? this is the same exact issue. Why would my qualifying vehicle not be under warranty for the same make, model, year and recall issue as the other vehicles being recalled? why would my VIN be excluded from having the same exact issues"
