CarComplaints.com Notes: What’s that smell – it’s a tad sweet with a tinge of chemical toxicity? If you own a 2011 Cruze it’s probably a coolant leak. It’s a widespread and notorious problem for the car and is the subject of a class-action lawsuit filed in the state of New York. And that’s not the only problem 2011 owners face…

Many say the 2011 model year suffers from a throttle lag that is probably due to a fauly electronic throttle control. The problem is signifigant enough that some owners say they are too scared to drive their cars. Those that do get behind the wheel often say their transmission isn’t shifting properly and problems start occuring as early as 15,000 miles.

All of this leads us to say you’re probably better off without this car’s headaches (they’re probably chemically-induced anyway).

In October 2015.. my son hit someone in the back.. needless to say I went off on him.. However.. the same thing happen to me this month (April) which also resulted in a crash... He told me the car would not stop.. and there was nothing he could do about it.... There is something seriously wrong with this car and after seeing others rant about it.. GM needs to do something before someone gets seriously hurt..

Cruze LX ECO 1.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 19,000 miles

no brakes when backing up and only happens part time

This problem was really life threating as it only happened to my wife when backig up and I thought it was just her imagination until it happend to my daughter when we were in Florida when I was in car and I called Shottenkirk in Ft Madison Iowa to ask them about problem and they said they had reports of this happening to others but no recall by GM which doesn't supprise me because GM is all about GM not consumer safety. We have three other problems with this Cruze . Read my oher complaints.
