We bought our 2006 Chrysler Pacifica Touring from the bank that had reposed it from the original owner. The original owners had divorced and let the car go back to the bank. So we figure it would not have any issues and didn't until after we bought it. From time to time the ABS braking kicks in and the brake pedal feels like jelly, almost as if you have no brakes. It has nearly caused a wreck on a couple of occasions. I'm wondering if anyone else has had these problems and if so why isn't chrysler standing behind their products?
I've had this problem happen twice after I bought this vehicle brand new off the lot. Hadn't had any problems with it since 2008. Now my mileage is 65,000 & my ABS light comes on then goes off. So I'm guessing it's another wheel sensor. Of course the first one was under warranty & the 2nd one cost me close to $200.
I can't believe 2 things:
1-that Chrysler hasn't had a recall to fix this problem once & for all.
2-that you can't take it to your mechanic. It has to be done at a Chrysler dealer shop.
The ABS light AND the E brake light come on all the time. I took it in for the clunking sound that happens sporadically when I come to a stop and they told me i need rotors. WRONG! then they told me I need new brakes. WRONG AGAIN! Just because I'm a woman doesn't mean they can rip me off! They told me nothing was wrong with my car, because they didn't experience the problem. I've almost rear ended someone and another time I couldn't stop and ended up in the intersection. I'm so over this car. It was my dream car and it just turned out to be a nightmare.
I just can't believe Chrysler won't recall the ABS system. I've done research for ABS issue with other owner and the results are amazing. Other dealership have narrowed the ABS problem down to bad sensors in the wheels, which means replace the both wheels.
WOW! I want to trade this van in. I have 2 kids in car seats.
