Had the code cleared yesterday (5/18/13) by a mechanic who said it was nothing, possibly needed a new gas cap. The next day I filled up the tank and drove home, had the light come on again and "gascap" was where the mileage should be. When I got out of car I could smell gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After researching, I may be in over my head already. There is a recall F44 for powertrain and fuel pump. Most of the forums I have read say the fuel pump line cracks but the whole tank and pump needs to be replaced???? I am VERY UPSET about this. Carlotz sold it to me, of course no warranty. I bought 3rd party not sure yet if it covers it.
