problem #4

Pacifica

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

The ABS/Brake lights come on and there is a warning ding. Once this starts it continues for about 5 to 15 minutes. Stops, then starts all over again. The lights on the dash flash dim to bright, the headlights too, so at night it's spooky driving down the road with the strobe lights.. The radio cuts out and makes a loud pop sound. The speedometer drops to zero then back up to the speed you are traveling.

Not sure what this problem is but we have taken the car in to Carl Burgers at least seven or eight times now and they can't figure this issue out. Taking it back in again tomorrow. If anyone knows what this is please post a comment. Thanks.

Pacifica LTD

I have owned a 2006 Pacifica since Dec 2013. In July, 2014, I began to have electrical issues at just under 70,000 miles. The ABS, traction control, and another brake light began lighting up randomly as I was driving. There was also a chime that went off concurrently. My local dealership charges $185 JUST to diagnose the problem. I am on a fixed income. I stopped by an auto shop that does much of my work, and the manager told me that it was an annoyance but it did not indicate that any of those systems were failing. He guessed that there was poor wiring somewhere.

These lights blink and the chime sounds almost constantly as I am driving, probably every 20-30 seconds. It is driving me crazy. I have read many, many other complaints about this identical problem from other owners. I have also read that some owners with the same year/model have experienced fires in their wiring. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS--why does Chrysler continue to ignore this problem? I am now teaching my youngest son how to drive, and he will drive the Pacifica when he gets his license. What will he do if there is a fire? Chrysler, you need to do the right thing. Acknowledge the problem, and fix it for us!

Pacifica Touring 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

We had it in the shop about three times for the dash lights acting up/ lights flickering, but got no info on what was causing this to happen. They tried telling me it was a short in the wiring harness under the dash.

I found out via the internet that someone had the same problem and they fixed it by replacing the battery cable that ran from the battery to the main fuse block next to the battery. He told me that the factory wire was shorting out at the end that had a black plastic box on the end of it. You couldn't see where it had shorted or came unloose, but he said it was in there. I went to AuotZone and got a $8.00 cable. I then undid the factory cable at fuse block and installed the new cable. I cut the old cable out altogether. Then ran the new one to the battery, that fixed it.
