CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

This vehicle is subject to safety recall R63. Went to paul bailey's,425 ten rod road, North kingstown ri. Informed that the parts were in to perform the safety recall. Appointment scheduled for 6/9/2016. At which time the service department informed us that the brake boosters had engine oil contamination and that the parts needed to be ordered. Told to come back once called. General manager stated that under this recall if the initial inspection revealed contamination then the parts were to be ordered and that a second appointment was necessary. Quite upsetting that the parts are only ordered if the first inspection reveals the need for further repair. This makes no sense, now driving a vehicle with a safety recall that could cause a loss of brake booster assist. The parts should be available if the appointment is for the recall. Now have to wait.
