Consumer experienced the engine light illuminating, shaking when braking at high speeds, steering noises and shifter popping in place. Also, consumer experienced noise in the rear end and transmission not shifting properly. Dealer said the check engine light illuminated for no reason at all and was reset. Consumer went to a different dealer and put a new computer because it's a small sensor in the emission control. Engine light came on again and consumer brought vehicle to a dealer and said that it was safe to drive. Consumer went to a different dealer because she wasn't comfortable with the opinion from the previous dealer. Consumer was told by the dealer that it was the torque converter and it will take a week and a half to repair vehicle. In addition, consumer is experiencing problems with air conditioner.

My Durango is always serviced when needed. Oil is changed every 3000 miles or 3 months which ever comes first. Last time it was taken to the dealership for service everything checked out ok. All of a sudden after 2,000 the transmission goes out. I called daimler Chrysler to ask if it had a warranty they responded that the warranty was for 36,000 miles or 3 years. I have taken it to 2 mechanics and they have both said that I need a new transmission. When my Durango was connected to the computer to see what the problem was it only indicated that it needed the speed sensors replaced, I did that and it still has the same problem. It shifts into 1st and 2nd gear but not into 3rd gear.

I have 35,000 miles on my Durango and have had 2 transmission rebuilds. I have also had shift linkage problems after the last rebuild and the dealer performed the shifting recall in 2002. All transmission issues. I am looking for resolution and a buy back of this vehicle. I do not feel confident about the transmission rebuild and the overall reliability of this vehicle. I am seeking the lemon law in my state but, I may need more help and pressure.

I currently own a 2001 Dodge Durango. The vehicle is serviced on a regular basis. I just turned 40,000 miles. I felt a slight pause in the transmission when starting out. I took the vehicle in to have the transmission checked. The transmission has to be replaced. I filed a complaint with daimler Chrysler. They gave me the standard answer. "3 years or 36,000 miles." We are not responsible. Please look into this transmission issue. I believe there is a part failure or malfunction with the Durango transmissions.
