The contact owns a 2001 Dodge Durango. The contact stated the four wheel drive selector switch would not engage the transfer case. This would cause the vehicle to roll away unexpectedly if the switch was not engaged. The dealer advised reprogramming the transfer case control module. Although there was a recall for the failure (NHTSA campaign id number 01V077000: Power train: Automatic transmission: Lever and linkage: Column shift) the manufacturer advised his VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 58,000 and current mileage 81,000.
