My horn started going off in the middle of night, constantly. It even goes off while driving. Then my locks don't pull down so anyone can open my doors and no alarm since I had to disconnect my horn. I've seen many youtube videos of other vehicle owners have the same issue and Dodge will not acknowledge this issue. Very dangerous to not have a horn esp. Driving in NY. Don't ever buy Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler..horrible company.

Journey

  • 50,000 miles
Issues with starting car, erratic dashboard lights, and flickering power drops when vehicle is in motion. This is related to the ignition key and the ignition switch (win module) it's inserted to. When the car won't start you have to move the key around in the ignition switch to get it to finally start the car. I've taken it to the dealership on a few occasions and had them look at this problem. Most of the time they could not find anything. On one occasion they changed out the battery. That did not help. This issue has happened rarely back when the car had approximately 50,000 miles on it. Now it has 140,000, and happens quite often. I'm worried it might shut off driving in traffic and cause a major safety issue regarding my wife, child, and anyone else around the vehicle. I'm also worried, especially late at night at her jobs parking lot, it will leave her stranded due to the car not starting.

Vehicle will not start after sitting idle and off at random times. In past 2 weeks car would not start at least twice, 3 times in the past 6 months. Battery, starter, and alternator has all been changed and still had a shutoff. When turning the key a click sound would happen but no turnover. Lights would be on and no low battery warning.

The horn will sound without any notice and at any time of the day. You can be in the car or out of it. It can happen at multiple times of the day and can wake you up during the night. I contacted a dealership and was informed they had no knowledge of the problem. Although you can go on the internet and there are many complaints and they say they have had their vehicle into the dealership with no solution. It can be unsafe if you are driving down the road and the horn starts honking, but as I say it can happen in your garage at night. As far as I know there is no recall for this, but there should be. This has been going on for at least the last 12 months.

I have been having ignition switch issues with my 2010 Dodge Journey--curiously similar to the issues that spurred a recall (RO3) with the same model/year Journeys--but my VIN didn't show up in the affected list. I took the Journey in to my Chrysler dealer to repair an ignition switch getting stuck, and the estimate was around $800 to repair the switch and reprogram the keys!

My car picks when it wants to crank. Sometimes it cranks by key manually and other times I walk outside to take the trash out, key no where near me, the truck is running. While driving the vehicle would just lose power. The lights on the dash would flicker on and off. The cars alarm would just randomly go off all hours of the night and day. For a full year no one could tell me what the problem was. The power kept draining from the battery even after I purchased an almost $200 battery. I took it to precision tune for a diagnostic test, after two days they still couldn't find a problem and finally on day three I call to find out it was the tipm, a part that's over $1000. Well this part is on back order and has been since January with Dodge. There is no estimated date of when they'll restock and there is almost 400 people in front of me. With this many problems this part should be recalled.
