First time Dodge owner and for the most part very pleased. Have a 2002 1500 quad cab, bought it used. Blower motor stopped and found out it was on recall for a wiring harness prob, had it replaced and since then have had nothing but problems with the whole system. The compressor pulley has made horrible grinding noises and when came time to turn the heater on. has little to no heat coming from vents. Have to switch from defrost to vents to keep windshield clear but to also stay a bit warm if at all. Changed thermostat and did nothing. Have called dealer about problem and they said there is a fix at over 800.00 bucks out of my pocket.
If they know of the problem then why do I have to foot the bill? Does anyone know if there is a recall for this item or not? Don't want to take it to local dealer again as I can't afford to loose anything else out of my truck [ took my truck in for last recall and lost all my CD's to a sticky finger mech}. Is there an easier fix for this problem?
dodge has the worsr heating system i have ever seen in a 02 ram. the heater core is horrible, its garbage. had to replace it twice because dodge cant build engines right. they must think us average joe's don't know what we are doing but the truth is we are actually smarter than dodge themselves.
I've owned 25 cars in my life but never had a heater box stop working due to plastic doors that have melting parts that have to be replaced. This i can fix myself with a kit found on the internet but Dodge should do it for free. I'll never buy another Chrysler product again! Broken dash now this? what load of crap
Well, its cold as ever in Indiana this time of year......... Sure would be nice to have a truck where you could depend on the heater to keep you warm. BUT, IT SUCKS... And the funny thing is that we are using it for a Snow plow truck. Its just as bad as having a car where the top rolls back. I mean when we r using the heat on low, high in between,its freezing cold air that comes out.What a comfort that is in the dead of winter... HOW MUCH MONEY DO WE EACH NEED TO SPEND BEFORE DODGE DECIDES THEY WANT TO STAND BEHIND THE SO CALLED MOTTO??? WHAT DO THEY SAY DODGE TRUCKS ARE RAM TOUGH? WELL HOW TOUGH CAN YA BE IF U ARE FROZE WHEN YOU GET THERE?
I am very disappointed in dodge that this in not a recall issue; My family has dodge/chrysler vehicles and seems they have not learned how to engineer a heater that works. How hard could it be other manufactures do not seem to have this problem.
