While fixing the A/C system of my car, the mechanic at my local Ford dealer told me that I had a broken engine mount. He said that I likely would have felt a hard lurch when I put the car into reverse or drive from park, which I did but I thought it was the transmission. He said the engine mount was a common problem with these Five Hundreds and Ford Freestyles too, so much so that they had replacements in stock. The part was replaced and I no longer feel it slamming between gears.

This problem really pissed me off because a car with 30k miles should not have a broken motor mount. The dealer told me this was $600 fix. or maybe just the part i cant remember. Service guy told me it was a good thing that i had purchased the extended warranty. I reminded him that it sucks that I had to purchase the warranty in the first place, because I was afraid of something like this happening. I wanted to support Detroit and American cars thats why I bought a Ford. I have since Purchased another Ford, this one a Flex. after 35k miles no problems yet. I am however, keeping my fingers crossed.
