problem #3

Mar 062007

(reported on)

Mustang GT 4.6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

The transmission leak was fixed at 1k miles, ok, at 2500 miles the car is running rough, engine light on, rough idle, backfiring, no power, take it back to cowtown dealer, they say the fuel injectors need replaced and 3 out of 8 spark plugs are burned up, they replace the parts and give it back without explaining why this problem happened.

So, get the car back with new plugs and injectors, start smelling gas smell coming through the vents, same problems, engine light coming on, no power, misfiring, backfiring, etc.. take it back, they say they will fix it, give the car back supposedly after "reflashing" the computer, drive the car, same problems, take the car back, they say they need "permission from Ford to look at it." I say, what do you mean, you've got mechanics standing around, pull the valve covers off and check the valves, there's a TSB on this engine for bad valve lash adjusters, they say "your engine was built a couple days outside of the TSB so it doesn't apply" and send me on my unhappy way. They also claimed they couldn't smell the gas stench, and didn't hear the valve rattle coming from the motor. They did admit to spraying stinky crap smelling car deodorizer in the car to mask the gas stench. Call Ford headquarters, tell them they should buy the car back if the dealer cant fix it, they tell me a rep will be calling me in 2 to 5 business days to discuss my problems. The car was never abused, its in stock condition, and has had the oil changed even though it only has 3k miles on it. Ford is just ignoring my obvious engine problems and trying to dodge fixing it. They deserve to go broke along with their crappy dealers.

Bought 06 GT Mustang from a little cowtown dealership, had the car 1k miles, auto trans fluid leaking, took it back, they fixed the transmission leak under a TSB, seems to be holding fluid at this time, THEN the other problems started
