The shift solenoid went on this vehicle at 55000 miles...which is outrageous...I can't see a vehicle that has not been used to it's fullest extent (no towing or plowing) and it's transmission is already failing..I don't know if there are any other's reported like this but I just wanted to notify you in case!

We took our Ranger in on 11/28/01 because there was a squealing noise, service derpart. Could not hear it. Took it back on 01/07/02 because noise got worse. They found that there was no grease in the inner bearing on both side of the front wheels "see other complaint ODI id: 734299 from someone else" it has feathering and cupping on the tires also they canT seem to fix.. they also found on 01/07/02 that the seal on the assembly transmission extension was leaking. It had a flange seal put on the differential at 2945 mile, the other side of the drive line. See my other complaint ODI id: 754342. Transmission went out at 2945 miles. We feel this Ranger is unsafe to drive.

Both front tires wearing, feathering and cupping. Aligned twice and had tires rotated twice and they are still wearing, cupping and feathering. These tires are going to be shredded before I hit 25,000 miles. We do not drive our truck except for short trips around town because we do not trust tires and wear on this vehicle. We were told by the Ford service dept. That Ford will never replace the tires under any circumstances. We feel this truck they way the tires are wearing makes it very unsafe to drive but we are put in a position and have to drive it so we can show the tires are wearing severely. We feel this puts our lives in danger. The transmission went out at 2945 miles. Elk grove Ford where we bought the vehicle told us they put on a new transmission and discovered it was rebuilt. They refused to give us a receipt until we went through the better business bureau. They put on crossbar holding transmission mount crooked, they overfilled the transmission fluid. We took it back three times for leaky transmission pan gasket on rebuilt transmission.

Transmission has long shift delay between 1 and 2 gears and off on 2 and 3 gears. Sometimes delay is greater than other times, resulting in slow movement.

This truck has numerous problems with it including the ones that I have listed. I have owned the truck since June 9th, and it has been in the shop for over 55 consecutive days. Transmission failed twice/ instrument cluster failed, and speed control failed.the dealer and manufactor is laying blame on me for these problems. I do not feel safe driving this truck, the first time the transmission went I was in the middle of a very busy intersection and was almost hit. The second time which was a month after they had it in the shop I was going to important training for the U.S. coast guard, and it failed. The first time they had the truck for 20 days and the second time they have had it for over 35 days now and I still don't have it. There are numerous problems, that they aren't even telling me about. The dealer isn't helping me with this at all. I want to get out of this vehicle since I have only had it since June and they will not help there blaming me for all the problems.

Red sticker on transmission, U.S. dealers only, 4R44E and 5R55E, exchange program prior to repair, see tsb 99-08, void after May 31, 2000. What the heck does this mean" will we or could we have a failure in the future with the transmission. We now have a miss in the engine but have not had a dealer analyze the problem but please why put a red sticker on a piece of equipment if you do not expect it to fail"

This 2000 Ranger is having transmission problems. This is a replacement vehical for a 1999 Ranger I had which had the same exact problems. Now my new truck is doing the following: Transmission shutters between gears shaking vehical, clunks into gear, hesitates. Truck has been in shop once now, dealer found no problem and said "I don't want to see this truck in our shop again". this was the same dealer which had my 1999 truck for 42 days before the buy back from Ford.
