I initially got this 01 Ranger in 03 with about 30K miles. The first night out leaving work I noticed that half of my gas had disappeared. closer to home i had 1/4 of the tank left and when i stopped the car i noticed gas was gushing out from the bottom. needless to say i took the car back to the dealership the next morning and demanded they fix it. and they did. fast forward to now and it happened again. come to find out the fuel line going to the fuel filter from the fuel tank came loose. the culprit - a bad seal. the fix - replace the whole fuel line from the tank to the filter. this means removing parts to remove the tank for a seal the size of a nickel that connects to the fuel filter. cant replace just the seal, have to replace the whole line ($250 for the line, $350 for labor). my fix, i pushed the line as hard as i could back into the filter. if it comes loose, it gets pushed back in.
