Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety. Notes: While the 2005 GMC Canyon doesn't show any major complaint trends, it's mechanically-identical counterpart is the Chevy Colorado which has some engine problems.

: the contact stated while the outside conditions were freezing the linkage for the transmission froze as well. This resulted in the inability to change gears until the ice melts. The contact stated by the time the vehicle would arrive at the dealership, the ice would melt. Therefore, the vehicle has not been seen by the dealership.

Canyon 5-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles
Within 1 week of purchasing the vehicle in 4/05 the transmission would bang into 2nd gear. It didn't matter if you took off slowly of accelerated quickly. Took to the dealership, they did a computer diagnostic test and found no problems. The vehicle continues to do this.
