Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

2005 Honda Odyssey liftgate struts failed. Opened the rear liftgate to remove something from the trunk and the liftgate did not stay up. Now everytime I try and open the liftgate, I would need to open with one hand and remove items or put items inside with the other hand.

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated when opening the rear lift gate, the struts failed and almost struck the contact. He attempted to keep the lift gate from falling but to no avail. He had to hold the lift gate up to prevent it from falling. The manufacturer was contacted and advised him to contact the dealer. The vehicle had not yet been taken to the dealer for an assessment of the failure or repairs. The failure and current mileages were 54,000.

My 2005 Honda Odyssey touring van needed new hatch struts. I have 42,000 miles on van. Labor $44.78 - parts $130.80 - charge for preparing repair order $4.48 - tax $10.81. Total cost $190.87. I told my friend who has a Toyota sienna and he just received a letter from Toyota telling him they have had problems with the hatch struts and have extended the warranty for five years, I think. If you have had the problem repaired already they will pay you back. I wonder if they use the same struts" good customer service from Toyota. Are you listening Honda"
