This just happened, but I was injured due to the fact the air bags didn't deploy.

I was involved in a collision with the front of my van t- boning a chevy truck at over 50 miles an hour. My vehicle was heavily damaged in the front but no airbag deployed. I was concerned about this because I purchased the van for the safety of my family and I feel I was let down and mislead that this was one of the safest vans on the market.

Back in April of 2009, while traveling on the highway, I tried to avoid a moose on the road. I swerved to miss it and hit a guard rail and ended up hitting and killing the female moose. My van was totaled. The collision did major damage to the front end and took off the majority of my roof. The van was deemed a total loss by my insurance company. A police officer said I was very lucky to have survived the accident. My question is: why didn't my air bags deploy when I hit the guard rail and then the large moose? Any insight into this accident would be much appreciated.
