They changed power pump and hose at the Honda dealer. I had to tow my car next day to dealer right after they replace new pump. Next day I found all power steering oil was leaked on the ground and steering made big noise. They said power steering rack was the problem. So they replace it. I wish i were a mechanic so i can tell what was the problem!!

My wife's van- I drove it and noticed that as I was pulling into a parking spot and I slowed to navigate into spot, the steering felt real heavy, like the power steering was not working at all. All of a sudden the steering eased up and was able to turn again. Initially my wife did not notice this (and she usually notices things that I miss). There was also a time of a week or two that there was noise also associated with this problem, like a whining noise. Brought the van in for a safety recall in May 2010-(Honda replaced brake reservoir that was causing air in brakes =spongy pedal). There was a service bulletin that said to change the power steering reservoir if brought in for steering problems. They also did a software update for the transmission (to fix erratic shift points). which I did also notice right when we got the van (Honda salesman told us that the van was "learning" our driving style and would smooth out eventually. We are leasing the van, by the way. The brakes are now good, and the transmission does shift better, but the power steering is still an issue. I now have 35,000 miles and will need to bring it back in for steering before warranty runs out. This is my first leased vehicle, and after getting burned twice by domestic vehicles, I was planning on turning it in when lease comes due 3/11, but found out I will lose $6 to $7K in equity. I will probably buy it, drive it for a year and trade it in. I do like the vehicle, but do not want to get burned again with many repairs!!

Power steering fails when trying to park and power steering pump or belt makes very loud noises intermittently. Dealer suggests that the power steering pump will fail but we have not replaced the pump yet.

Odyssey EX V6

I started to notice a couple of months ago that I had little or no power steering in some parking situations. This is not my imagination because it requires all my strength to turn the wheel when backing out of a parking spot. One night I noticed a loud noise in the steering pump when this happened. So I took it to the dealer and they told me the steering pressure was fine and that they had a service bulliten on the reservoir and replaced it. Something was said about air leaking into the lines. They also drained and replaced all the fluid. It seemed good for about 2 weeks and now it is happening again, but because it only happens when parking, and then only some of the time, I don't think they will witness the problem.
