Alarm goes off randomly, about 4 times a week. I installed a battery disconnect switch, but it's very inconvenient.

problem #1

Jan 222015

Odyssey EXL 3.5L I- Vtec

  • Automatic transmission
  • 69,500 miles

It started in January the security system went off at about 3 AM. Reset system. About 2 min. later it went off again. 2 or 3 weeks later it happens again. This has been going on for 8 months. Every couple of weeks we get the horns blasting at all hours of the day and night. Pushing the unlock button on the remote turns it off.

I have had it looked at by the Honda dealer 4 or 5 times. The first time they found nothing. The second time they looked at it they said it was one of the lock solenoids. They fixed. That didn't fix the problem. The third time nothing. The forth time they said it was a MICU, that they wanted $1100 to fix. Didn't have the money. Now the rear hatch doesn't open. Another $1000 to fix it. Still don't have the money. They say it is a different MICU. I think that all they are doing is finding the problems caused by the real problem and they aren't going to look any further unless I get the MICU replaced.

By the way, how they found the problems was putting the diagnostic unit and checking for alarms the first time nothing, second time lock solenoid, third time nothing, forth time MICU control unit & the fifth time the rear hatch doesn't operate. Total diagnostic $230 and replacing solenoid $100 plus what my warranty co. paid. Still have the problem and the warranty co. doesn't cover the MICU, hence why I don't have the money to fix the problem and I don't think it will fix the problem. They did have a possible fix in there records but someone already did that repair and I found about the possible repair from an independent repair shop they found that the repair had already been done.
