Possible sollution ot the soft brakes in 2010 models of Honda Odysseys. Have not tried it yet, just found it. Have had ours to our own mechanic sho could not diagnose but said all brake parts were fine. Took it to Honda dealership for that and other recall fixes. Was told we needed to replace several brake parts, which we already knew were fine. Took it back to ur mechanic who kept it several days trying different things. We think this is the issue and will check with a different Honda Dealer repair shop--hopefully more honest, to see if this fix takes care of it. But WHY is the 2010 not included on the recall when you can read everywhere that this is a problem in 2010 Honda's Why do WE have to pay to get it fixed. My husband HAS spoken to the national Honda Repair people about it. We WILL speak to them again!!!But this looks like the answer to the problem. Our mechanic said it seemed to be a computer glitch or something, rechecked all brake parts After the Honda dealer said to replace or repair parts. They were just bull**ing and that makes me really mad! they must know about this recall and what the fix is. If not they should not be in business!! 2008 Honda Odyssey SERVICE BRAKES, AIR NHTSA Campaign #10V098000 Summary: Honda has notified NHTSA of a defect in certain model year 2007 and 2008 Odyssey and element passenger vehicles manufactured between July 28, 2006 and August 21, 2008. Air can enter the vsa modular pump during an initial self‐check process that occurs shortly after each time the engine is started. It is possible for enough air to enter the system to result in a brake pedal that feels soft or lower to the floor. Consequence: If the owner does not have any brake service or maintenance performed over a period of months or years, the system can continue to accumulate enough air to Date Announced: MARCH 16, 2010 Vehicles Affected: 412,000 affect braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash. Actions: Honda will notify owner and Honda dealers will repair the vsa modulator by removing any existing air in the brake system then apply sealant and caps to prevent air from entering the brake system free of charge. The safety recall began on May 3, 2010. Owners may contact Honda at 1‐800‐999‐1009. For detailed information & sup

Odyssey EX-L V6

  • Automatic transmission

Honda Odyssey has some notorious problems of soft brake pedal, especially the 3rd generation, 2005-2010 model. There have been many recalls regarding this brake problem which means not completely corrected the problem yet. Like other similar complains, my odyssey 2010 EX-L has soft brake pedal problem from the purchase in 2010 till now. Brake pedal is much softer than any other cars I ever drove including other mini-van and it seems Honda America does not know what to do with it. My dealer just asked to change the front brake pads, and brake fluid, and recently, sticking in slides problems identified and fixed. However, the main soft brake pedal remains about the same.

The main problem I feel is the inconsistency in the braking capability. Sometimes, it looks too serious, but in other times, it looks just manageable. Dealer tested the road test; at higher speed, applying a great foot force and then it made a stop. After that, they said it was working even though it's a little bit softer than other cars. They can not do anything with the soft brake pedal. It requires some extra force to make it stop. Inconsistent braking capability could be a very important problem.

In one of the recent recall on 11/1/2013, it describes "Due to a combination of system components and software, the Vehicle Safety Assistant System (VSA) may apply the brake unexpectedly."

I own this 2010 Honda Odyssey and for years the brake pedal feels soft and low even after replacing the front brake pad. So I looked online and search for how to fix it and saw a lot of complaints about it.
