CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014 and 2015 Honda Odyssey shows an early trend of transmission problems with clunking/jerking when shifting gears.

Most of these Odyssey transmissions are still under warranty, but so far Toyota generally hasn't been able to diagnose or fix the clunking problem — that's the reason for our low rating. Some owners have reported it was a stuck solenoid, & in a few cases Honda has replaced the entire transmission.

As more of these Odysseys start exceeding the 60,000-mile powertrain warranty limit, buyer beware.

Our Honda Odyssey was subject to the recent recall relating to the movement of the second row seats. We took the vehicle in for repair at the nearby Honda dealership, and it was allegedly fixed. However, several days thereafter, while I was driving with my toddler (in a car seat attached to the passenger side second row seat) at approximately 15 mph on local streets, I braked gently to merge into a lane that would turn toward the highway when I heard my child crying in sudden distress. The seat that she was in had flipped forward into the front passenger seat, and her head and body was pressed into the front passenger seat. I immediately put the car into park and went to set the seat back down and check on and comfort my child. There were some injuries, and we sought medical attention. After the incident, I checked the seat that had flipped forward, and it was still not locked into place, despite me having set the seat down after the incident. I would like to make clear that no individual has moved this seat since we retrieved the car after its repair from the recall. This incident is absolutely unacceptable, as this indicates that the repair relating to the recall was not properly done or else there are additional mechanical issues involved. I attached a picture of how the car seat was positioned (with my child in it!). we also called the Honda dealership to bring the car back in for evaluation, and they were unable to determine whether this incident was due to their human error or a mechanical issue.

Hard transmission shifts mostly occur at low speeds while I am in heavy traffic. If I slow down almost to a stop, and traffic speeds up and I accelerate, the transmission jerks violently.

I own a 2014 Honda Odyssey, and he driver door sometimes come open by itself when I am driving. Other times I cannot get in to the vehicle, because I cannot unlock the doors to get into the vehicle, not even using the regular key. When I park my vehicle, and if by any chance I am able to lock the vehicle doors, then a few minutes later the driver's door come open (not unlock) by itself. I cannot leave anything inside the vehicle, because anyone can just get in. Yesterday, 20 March 2017, after I park my vehicle I was trying to get out and I could not, because I could not unlock the driver's door. A very scary feeling. I had to jump to the back of the vehicle and got out opening the back door. The remote/switch sometimes will lock and unlock all the doors, and the hatch, but will not the driver side door. The other doors after I start the car and start driving would not lock automatic like it should.

Exploding sun roof. Vehicle was in motion on expressway traveling East. Loud explosion heard over vehicle. After pulling over an inspection revealed that sunroof had shattered, but due to interior cover closed no glass fell inside. Vehicle was taken into a repair shop after reporting incident to insurance company. Repair shop technician advised that he had recently encountered same situation on a 2015 Honda Odyssey van with a damaged sun roof which appeared to have just popped off. Have contacted Honda dealership to see if there has been a recall on this issue and am awaiting a response if covered under warranty.

I went to get something out of my mom's minivan using the door behind the driver's seat. The door when funtioning normally is supposed to open fully when the handle is pulled upon. Instead the when door was halfway open, it started to close. The door then to hit and crush my arm. Thankfully I was not injured. The car was parked on our concrete driveway and was turned off.

The rearview camera of my Honda Odyssey 2014 etouring minivan blacks out intermittently when I am parallel parking, which involves shifting gears quickly in and out of reverse and drive. Once the screen blacks out, it says black unless I restart the engine and it gets stressful when you are in the middle of parallel parking on a busy street with cars waiting behind you and you can't see the rear of the car. I purchased a car with a rearview camera specifically on purpose due to my young children in additional to living on a street with a K-1st grade school where there is a lot of traffic with young kids. This is my second vehicle with the exact same problem and both cars demonstrated the rearview camera blackout on numerous occasions. The Honda and my local dealer instructed by Honda now refuses to take in my car to register or resolve the problem. This is a safety issue where a large minivan fails to provide a fully reliable and functioning rearview camera which is legally required to do so by 2018 anyways. Honda refuses to acknowledge the defect or fully solve this recurrent problem on many different dates.

Driving West on I 80 at 70 mph. All of a sudden there was a loud gunshot sound. Moved the sunroof shade and saw shattered glass. There was nothing around for a flying object. Had to stop at Honda dealer in Lincoln to have plastic put on to protect from rain. I called insurance when home in Wisconsin and had it repaired. The shape of the glass looked as if it exploded from inside toward out. Have since watched news about this problem on abc news.

While driving down the freeway in houston, tx on a hot summer day the sunroof exploded outward. It made a loud crack followed by several smaller cracks. The glass shattered into little pieces. Fortunately the sunscreen cover was closed or we would have suffered faces full of shattered glass, there is no evidence of any other damage to the car such as a brick being thrown at it.
