A major transmission recall of over 1 million Honda vehicles back in 2004 dealt with transmission damage due to overheating, but 2003 Pilot transmissions have continued to fail.

When opening the tailgate the hinge failed, and the hatchback fell down on consumer. It appeared that piston was too small for the weight of the door, and the attachment should be placed in a position where it could support the weight of door. No injuries occurred. Currently, the hinges completely failed.
