CarComplaints.com Notes: Previously we had awarded the 2009 Pilot "Seal of Pretty Good", but have since removed that honor due to all the continuing complaints about excessive oil consumption.

This Honda Pilot oil consumption defect was subject to a class action lawsuit in 2013. However not all 2009 Honda Pilots were covered by the settlement & by now the warranty extension has expired. The oil consumption complaints keep coming in.

After the dealer installed a software update to fix an excessive oil consumption issue the vehicle is now stalling during take off and when slowing down. Dealer still denies there is an issuer after dropping it off to have it examined. Both times they charged me the diagnostic fee and have yet to fix the problem. This vehicle really sucksss

Service:

A. customer states when driving vehicle dies out , no steering, no brakes—please check

B. customer states drivers seat heater when in on position, it turns on and off on its own—please check

Update from May 28, 2011: Was told by the Service Manager at Big Island Honda that they can't tell what the problem is unless the engine light comes on. The engine light has not come on for it stalling. Furthermore, the mechanic said that they tried to duplicate the problem, but coudn't. HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM DRIVING IT LESS THAN A MILE. I SUPPOSE WHEN YOU MOVED THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP FROM POINT A TO POINT B TO FIX THE OTHER PROBLEMS, THAT WAS WHERE THE LESS THAN 1 MILE WAS CALCULATED.
