CarComplaints.com Notes: So far the 2011 Elantra doesn't have the same volume of transmission problems that 2010 owners are fighting with. It also doesn't have the same pattern of steering and braking complaints that are piling up with the 2013 model year.

We're not saying the 2011 is perfect -- I mean, what were they thinking advertising their MPGs -- but there are worse choices.

Got into my car one day and my music wouldn't work from my phone. I assumed it was a bad connection, tried the radio, tried a CD, and tried my GPS lady's voice and got nothing. Drove around for about a month without a radio and when I called Hyundai, they said they haven't heard of this happening before in a car and that they would take a look at it. Upon looking at it, they got back to me to tell me that the entire unit would need to be replaced (I have a Limited, so that included the CD player, radio, GPS, screen..etc) and would cost $3k to fix. This car was only two years old at the time and was a lease. I had to make numerous phone calls to Hyundai, state my claim, wait for them to get back to me and approve the repair, which took about 3 days.

They came back to tell me that they would cover the cost for the replacement this time, which was great. I basically told them that it was a leased car and that I had all of the intentions to buy the car after the lease was up but without a working radio I wasn't going to consider it and I definitely wasn't going to pay $3k for something that should work for years and years, never mind just 2. When I brought it back to the dealership to get it replaced the guys behind the desk were astounded that I actually got Hyundai to pay for the bill because they're usually not so great about it.
