CarComplaints.com Notes: There's no way around it, the Cherokee's transmission is junk. There's no other explanation for why a vehicle, usually with under 40,000 miles, would have so many complaints

Barely drove off the lot before first major malfunction a year ago. Aug 2014. Jeep suddenly lost all power on I65 about 60 miles north of Nashville. Going 70 mph on the interstate. Car shut off. Computer module was bad and had to be replaced. Dealer paid, but 3 days in hotel, I paid the costs while waiting to get car fixed.
Now not even a year later,at 19,600 miles, engine light came on. Soon afterward the car started accelerating by itself when I was slowing down. This occurred at between 25 down to 20 mph. Car would suddenly give itself gas and speed up.
Took into the dealer, "had to make an appointment" so had to keep driving it for about 3 more days. Service department read code, remarked, "its got a code but that doesn't make any sense." Later said they were gonna give me a shuttle ride home, it may take til late afternoon before they knew what the problem was, so I asked "what did the code say?" Reply, "I forgot."
Will NEVER buy anymore Jeeps. I've owned 6. After roll up windows went by the wayside the window motors on almost all my Jeep windows went bad. $400 or more each. Engine out on Grand Cherokee at 120000 miles in spite of regular maintenance.
Electrical system bad on 2000 Wrangler Sport. Patriot, $150 when engine light on? Computer update.
Stuck again. 6 yrs payments, lemon.
