First, brake related problems: Mileage 2341 complaint pulsatting when stopping 20-55 mph, front brake rotors were resurfaced, complaint 2 mileage 16040 brakes pulsatting when stopping also shimmy in steering 45-55 mph, front brake rotors were replaced reason warpage due to overheating design flaw? / complaint 3 mileage 17000, brakes pulsatting, vibaration in vehicle and steering wheel shimmy when brake are applied. Have not rportedto dealer at this time will schedule for week of 07/16/01. Secondly, transmission shift problems: Started when vehicle was brand new when stopping it felt like someone was hitting you in the rear end. First repair, mileage 4428 consisted of tsb0300799 and replacement of rear driveshaft, also rear axle carrier and pinion bearings were replaced.second transmission repair mileage 10453 due to harsh shiffting @ 20 mph and again when stopping it felt like someone ran into the rear of the vehicle, this time the transmission yoke was replaced and another transmission update per tsb21-09-00, also during this service the front driveshaft was replaced due to a howling noise which started around 55-60 mph, complaint three mileage 10818 vehicle still has whining noise coming from drive train. In addittion, transmission problems continue with harsh shifting at times at 20 mph and 50-55mph, these shift points worsen as other problems were being corrected, dealer claims that thhis is adaptive memory and their nothing that will be done to correct it. According to casey Jeep service manager DaimlerChrysler does not see this as a problem only an issue. Fourth complaint mileage 16040 transmission continues to shift hard at times @ 20 mph and 50-55 mph. At this time dealer show no concern in correcting this problem. In summary, brake and drive train problems with this vehicle starting at 2341 miles, and they continue be on-going. I now question the safety of this vehicle.

Due to transmission, vehcle will lurch forward when idling at a stop or at random, and driving at approximately 20mph with foot off accelerator. Vehicle will clunk very hard lifting consumer off seat. Vehicle was taken to dealer 6 times, but dealer could not find cause, and consumer felt dealer was in denial. Consumer states the transmission seems to be a problem, it experiences rough shifting, bumping, and clunking.

The car was in neutral:the air conditioner was on: My foot was on the brake. With my foot on the brake, the car was placed into drive. The wheels spun and left rubber tracks as long as 24" on the pavment although my foot was not on the accelerator. With the car careening forward, I depressed the brake pedal with as much force as possible, but the car did not respond and continued forward.the vehicle stopped only when it went through the wall of my garage.the air bag did not deploy. My foot was never on the accelerator. As soon as the car stopped, I checked the location of my feet and I confirmed that the accelerator was not being depressed. I had the police come and prepare an acident report which recorded the acceleration marks that remained on my driveway as a result of the sudden and high acceleration which was incurred.

Intermittent engine idle problem. Occurs when engine is fully warmed up and in gear and at a full stop. Engine idle speed will fluctuate between 300 & 600 RPM. When this happens, engine roughness is very noticable and on occassion it will stall. On the first visit to the dealer, the computer was reprogrammed as per a tsb. This did not solve the problem. Second visit, Chrysler advised the dealer to replace throttle position sensor. Again the problem still exists. The dealer has notified Chrysler and is still waiting for an answer.

Vehicle has suffered from warped rotors which were replaced twice on the front and once on the rear. No problems since 12998 miles. But I consider this to be due to poor quality. Main issue reoccurring, stalling problems while stopped in drive. Vehicle has been in three times for checks to throttle body (cleaned and once replaced), software revisions and other settings, but stalling continued to manifest itself. Has stalled 3 times in the last 3 weeks. Contacted daimler Chrysler who kept referring me to the dealer. But after multiple visits I have no confidence in their ability to address this problem.

Brakes: Front end shakes when braking, rotors turned by dealer, but problem continues - dangerous. Differential/transfercase: Loud clunking noise from rear, 'roaring' noise at speeds of 30-40mph and 65-75mph. Engine: Stalls(dies out) when idling in gear and when putting gear from park to reverse, delear doesn't know how to fix. Vehicle lunges forward when coming to a stop, almost hit vehicle in front - dangerous. Idles roughly, rpms go up and down at stops, stalls. Steering: Pulls to right, dealer says alignment is fine. Noise from steering column when turning. Ac: lots of water condensed inside of vehicle at passengers feet when ac on, dealer says normal.

While attempting to fill gas tank, gas frequently spills out when tank is full without kicking off auto-shutoff feature of nozzle. On one occassion, with the tank nearly empty and the nozzle properly inserted into tank, gasoline immediately flowed out of tank and onto ground when pumping began. Again without shutting off auto-shutoff feature of nozzle. On numerous other occasions, when inserting nozzle into tank, before beginning to pump, gasoline from the tank would spew out when nozzle was inserted. In all occasions, I was sprayed with gasoline.

Grand Cherokee 4WD

While slowing down to stop at a red light, the vehicle downshifted (auto) properly. At approx. 15 - 20 mph while the brake was depressed the engine revved up as if to take off. I shifted to neutral and the tachometer almost red lined. (similar to the Audi 5000 problem early 80's.) the second time this happened was after making a U-turn on a dead-end street and proceeding to stop at a stop sign. Both feet were on the brake pedal. The vehicle has been towed back to the dealer on 07/06 with 116 miles on the odometer. Outcome still pending.

Idle goes up and down at stop. Idle goes up and Jeep will gain speed without foot on gas. Idle goes up and Jeep will gain speed in reverse. Idle "burps" at stop and Jeep jumps like it was hit from behind. Rear end whines while traveling and get louder till 75mph then mostly subsides. Transmission was replaced ( for no reason we could tell) to stop whine. Whine continues in the rear end. Dealer states "normal". steering wheel shakes on extreme left or right turns forward or reverse until transmission was replaced. Dealer stated shaking was normal. Jeep has 2000 miles.
