My wife was driving the 2014 Kia Sorento while I was out of town. She got an engine warning light on the dashboard. She was able to get it home. I have a code reader and checked when I got home and found that it had two bad codes, both tied to the emission control system.
The next day, I was going to take it to the dealer, Dulles Kia in Leesburg, VA only thing...I could not drive faster than 10mph! Rather than not ruin the engine, I had to have it towed 25 miles from my home to Leesburg, VA.
I gave it to the dealer who like me thought it was a warranty covered problem. But, they showed me that some rodents had chewed through the insulation on wires leading to the connectors that tripped the two engine codes. It was NOT covered by warranty. They fixed it in a day and it cost 750.00. I am very upset because I found out that this was a problem that Kia, Hyundai and others are reporting. I think Kia should be more forthcoming with this problem and fix it for free and do something so that this does not happen again!!
