While traveling at 55mph on the highway, heard a clunk from the engine compartment and loss of propulsion power with an dry gear noise. Turned off the car and the next day it ran smooth down a street until I accelerated to get on a highway. The same noise appeared accompanying a check engine light and immediate reduction of acceleration while attempting to make a right turn. Turbo boost fault was recorded in the ECU. Took it in for service and the result was the turbo came apart. Dealer said they never seen a turbo apart with no signs of improper maintenance. Service bulletin NHTSA id: 10109203 and tsb id: Ntb16-035A has talks about an engine cooling system turbocharger service. Oil line replacement required with turbocharger service. The turbocharger part number has been rescinded and replaced with a newer model. The dealer informed me that the car is unsafe to drive as the internal turbo components can come loose and damage the engine. This vehicle has had the NHTSA campaign number: 14V683000 recall completed. And a manufactures recall to replace the timing belt. If this issue were to happen when crossing a highway with traffic, the safe distance can be significantly reduced to the lack of acceleration power.

Different days. Car died while driving straight 30 mph in town on main St. Car died in middle of the road, was unable to start the car again. After repeated pushing of the ignition start button the car finally started./ car was parked at home in the driveway, I got in to leave and the car would not start, again repeatedly pushed the start button and it finally started, this has happened 5+ times./ driving on interstate 80mph car would not rise above 3000 RPM and would not accelerate above 45mph. Pulled the car over turned it off for 15 mins restarted and it was normal again. Happened 10+times./ upon starting the smell of fuel is strong inside of the car, sometimes while driving in town the smell of fuel is there. When the car turns off the smell fades away. Happens almost daily.

While driving my vehicle at higher speeds (65-75) it randomly loses power. There is no reaction when I step on the gas so I have to carefully steer out of traffic before the car comes to a complete standstill. This happens several time while on a 100 mile trip. Once pulled over I have to wait several minutes before the gas pedal responds but then after several more minutes it happens again. I have been to two different Nissan dealerships only to be informed since it did not happen to them while test driving it and it did not show up on their computer there was nothing they could do. I cannot drive it anymore or sell it to an unsuspected new owner who could possible get severely injured or die due to this problem.

I am a frustrated owner of a 2013 Nissan Juke sl. I am the first and only owner. At about 20K miles, I took the car in for its regularly scheduled maintenance and complained that the vehicle was noises while driving on the highway. I was given, what I know now to be the textbook response, 'I'm sorry we drove the car and could not duplicate the issue you're complaining about'. 30K miles, I took the car in for its regularly maintenance with the following complaint: The car is extremely noises on the highway that I can barely hear my music, thus I have to appear obnoxious to surrounding drivers because my music is louder than theirs, so that I can hear it over the noise coming from under my hood which sounds like an airplane. Furthermore, when I step on the gas pedal to increase speed, the car is slow to respond. Once again, Nissan claims they are not able to pinpoint the issue. 45K miles, the car goes in for its regularly maintenance with the following complaint: While driving on the highway for 3 hours, the car will loose power'it is still noises as all hell, but the car will slow down without warning. I have been high beamed and honked at. This is dangerous to me, my passengers and other drivers on the road. The car doesn't overheat and all fluid levels are fine. Once again, Nissan claims they are not able to pinpoint the issue. This past weekend, I am doing my 4.5 hour road trip again in Nissan's deathtrap they have fondly nicknamed Juke. Like clock work, after 3 hours on the highway, the car starts to slowdown, I called Nissan while it was happening, but he can barely hear me over the loud noise (jet engine sound emitting from under my hood). I took the car into Nissan who could not do anything because they don't look into problems like this on the weekend.

We purchased a brand new Nissan Juke 2013, including a maintenance and service contract. Over the past 3 years the Nissan Juke has refused to start dozens of times. We are petrified that it will stop running while we drive it. Often it will not even start with jumper cables. Despite having the Juke in and out of the Nissan dealership shop over the last three years, Nissan has been completely unable to determine and fix the defect. Each time Nissan simply charges the battery, or replaces it. On at least 8 separate occasions Nissan has cleared the Juke as ok to drive, only to have it fail to start within several months. We have been stranded many times, and now carry jumper cables and 2 hand held power starters, though these often fail to start the car. We do not want to resell this vehicle on the used market to unsuspecting consumers since the Juke in its defective condition is clearly a serious hazard to users and others on the road. We asked Nissan on April 12, 2017 to repurchase the vehicle, but they refused by letter dated April 21, 2017 since our lemon law only protects buyers for 20 months from purchase. We have a complete spreadsheet with attached invoices with complete details of all Nissan's attempts to fix the Juke and their excuses. This Nissan Juke has been the most unreliable and dangerous car we have ever owned, and Nissan's failure to adequately fix this defective car over the past 3 years has been shameful. This vehicle should be taken off the road before someone gets killed. While we were able to upload the spreadsheet, the exhibits were too large, and can be emailed on request.

I purchased this vehicle brand new. Up to date on all servicing. 81000 miles. On 1/12/2017 was driving vehicle and went to enter into highway. While entering into highway cars speed started to decline at a fast rate down to 25 on a 70 mph highway. Almost causing and accident. Was making a pop/whistling sound under hood. Could not drive above 40 mph without the sound getting louder and worse. Called my mechanic and took it straight there. When hooked up to diagnostic machine it showed it was the turbo. Tried to drive car home but could not make it up hills. This is a safety hazard. Loss in performance in the turbo causes speed loss at a drastic rate. This could be fatal in situations where acceleration is needed. Part went out with no prior warnings. I could have been struck on the highway or caused an accident entering on it so slowly. Contacted Nissan and to my surprise there has been no recall on this part even though I have read hundreds of complaints on the same issue.

I am very angry.. I wish I had done my research before purchasing my 2013 Nissan Juke. The extended warranty is a joke. My son and I were nearly in an accident on the highway due to the faulty turbo. The car began to decelerate and went from 65mph to below 20mph. Nissan is declining the claim. I even submitted proof of oil changes and etc... I have registered a complaint to Nissan since this has happened, I did research. Juke's from 2011-2014 have turbo issues. How can all these people be wrong?? the 1st time, happened in March. I took it in to the shop and they 'repaired" the car. Then it happened again. This time they are saying it is the turbo.. I registered a complaint with Nissan case #22368872 they said they will call me tomorrow. I need this resolved. It is very scary and dangerous.

My wife was driving about 70 mph, her Juke started losing power & service engine light soon came on. She took it to dealership they told her it would be covered under warranty. They next day or so said they were not going to cover under her gold extended warranty. The tech that installed a new turbo from factory said it was defective. They are refusing to cover under the warranty

While parked in our driveway for more than 30 hrs, my 2013 Juke burst into flames. The fire dept did not find any evidence of arson or tampering and there was no weather occurrence to explain why it became engulfed in flames. The fire started in the engine compartment at 12:40am. Nissan has said that they examined the car and their technical specialist found " no evidence of a product problem, failure, or malfunction that may have caused or contributed to this incident". Nissan will not tell me why the car burned up, just they're not responsible. Why would a low milage, well maintained vehicle catch fire unless there was some kind of product failure? I was lucky that only property was damaged but I feel Nissan usa is not taking the incident seriously.
