Sunfire Coupe 2.2L

I've never even hear of a suspension spring braking on a car, this is not even my car, it's my mother's car and she does not drive crazy or anything. I was shocked when she told me that it brake and the dealer didn't even offer to replace it for free because it was not under warranty. It has to be a manufacture defect.
