Disgusting odor periodically comes out of air vents when using A/C. Toyota no help in correcting this problem, would be great if they would diagnosis the cause and fix the problem. In Louisiana A/C is used from May to October, many months having to deal with this "stinky" problem! Just fix it!!!

Shortly after I bought my 2009 Toyota Corolla it started emitting an odor from the vents when I use either cool air or the air conditioner. I have had it in the garage several times, including when the odor was there. They say it is nothing wrong. I was told maybe mice had made a nest in my engine compartment. That is not true. I recently replaced the cabin air filter, now the odor is worse. Pretty frustrated. Has anyone else been able to get this fixed?

Corolla CE 1.8L

Ever since I bought my Corolla 09 in 2008, I had this problem of getting a bad odour from the vent. Initially I though it may be becouse the vehicle is new and would go off after a while, but every summer whenever the AC is operated it came back. Most of the time it come when AC is used for a while and stopped with only the circ fac running. The longer the AC is used, longer the odour stay on. Complained to the dealership many times but they could not trace any problem, but spent money on AC service, changing air filters etc. It smells somewhat like gummy/oily and very unpleasant-couldn't decribe properly.

Has anyone experienced this, and any solutions.

When I drove other cars, if the outside smell bad, you don't get that odor right away inside your car, but with the corolla, you are instantly get that odor inside the car. I think they don't have a good air filtering system or something.

Bought this 09 Corolla 28 July 2008, within 2 months, the air conditioner started emitting a foul odor; smelled like urine, or a sour dish rag. I've taken it to the dealer 3 times and they sprayed a disinfectant on the condenser core; that provides a temporary fix, but the odor soon returns. I was told that it's best not to use the recirc setting on the AC, to let fresh air into the cabin... Why's the button there then??? this is car # 12 for me and it's the only one I've encountered this problem with. How do I report this problem, as it isn't a safety issue?
