I've actually noticed this problem when I first test drove the vehicle. I thought it was just the transition from hydraulic steering to electronically controlled steering. It became more apparent the more I drove the car. My hands have never been more busy continuously over and under compensating in simple turns. The car does not drive straight when the steering doesn't move. Never has. Like I said before, my hands have never been so busy. So I've tried adjusting my gas foot to accommodate the steering. No such luck. The power steering feels like it's constantly changing. Apparently Japan models do not have this problem, but they have different parts. This Toyota has gone too far and too cheap. They've jacked up the prices but went skimp on quality parts. I'll never buy a Toyota again. Back to Honda it is.

car seems to wander like being blown by strong winds even on nice days used to live in a windy area and didn't really give it a thought but now on a calm day it seems like i'm driving in a storm. i don't know if its broke. steering wheel seems tight and responsive but car tracks like steering wheel is disconnected especially noticeable at high speed like 60 plus mph . i have 30000 miles on car in one year. problems seems consistent from the day i first noticed until now 20000 miles later.

My 2009 Corolla DCE has 12.000 KM and is not steering Straight since it was picked up from the dealer. I always suspected that the Toe-In was not right. I also have several Honda cars in the Family and the steer perfectly staight. Checking up on this issue I found that many other Corollas have the same fault. And found the following post:

A 2009 Corolla LE had 23,000 miles on it is steering straight and handles well now,,, after he had the car placed on a Hunter alignment machine and discovered the rear toe was way out of specifications.

I asked Toyota corporate and the dealer to align the car into specifications and discovered they could not align the rear axle as it is a "stamped axle" and has no toe adjustment. Toyota Corporate was no help at all...period. I took the car to an alignment shop and the rear axle bolt holes were modified and the car was brought into zero degrees toe on all four wheels. The car all of a sudden ran true down the highway without the steering and wandering issues all of you are talking about. The flaw in the steering is the rear axle toe adjustments. Take your car to an alignment shop and check the alignment with a Hunter machine. It is a Toyota problem that they are not addressing. However, a good alignment shop can correct the problem to have the car steer straight and not wander.

The dealer wouldn't fix or replace the problem. After 20 days in the Toyota Shop they said the said it's a normal "issue" with the steering. I took a loss and exchange the car for the same make/model and paid $1000. If this issue is recalled I will turn in my bill to Toyota since they will not pay for exchange. What has happened to Toyota? I need to put a "taxi" type of sign on the back of my Toyota and say "Toyota Stole 1000 from me".
