When needing to accelerate the car takes off like a jet rocket when the pedal is pressed. The car seems to be out of control and shaking violently. This happens usually on highway when going above 50. Feels very unsafe. This is a used car I bought. This happens on a regular basis.

Transmission is shifting very hard into second gear, particularly when the car is warm and has been running about 20 minutes. The shop reported pressure readings inside of transmission are high and recommended a full replacement.

Car is sputtering and hesitates when driving at low speeds, it does it intermittently. This is a safety concern. I took it to Toyota dealership and called headquarters and they have not been able to resolve this major problem. They are overlooking the problem. Apparently this is an ongoing problem with Toyota cars and they haven't done anything about it.

Vehicle is impacted by takata pass bag faulty, no resolution informed by Toyota advised Toyota to refund money in regards to paying $21K, also vehicle has clatter under passenger side cv axle, have been in several times for solution or resolution to this issue more than 3 times to date there stating no problem is there, if car I jacked up I hear clear noise between cv axle and transmission, this was brought to Toyota attn. Once at Toyota of irving twice at Toyota of dallas and was shown to me at ntb tire to have axle or transmission irregular noise clatter when put in drive while on lift up 5 ft with one tech in car and another under vehicle with me pointing out clearly there is noise on passenger side. Yet Toyota denies this or any noise to be a problem or hazard nor to acknowledge any noise exist, also brought car in for brake growl when I step on brakes, the rear brakes have not been changed by me and are not aftermarket brakes unless Toyota installed them, the car was purchased from dealer, I took car back 4 times in regards to brake issues back to dealer no problem found.

Right side cv joint boot cracked, leaking grease @ 56K miles, discovered during routine inspection & could result in failure of cv joint disconnecting from hub assembly & loss of propulsion. (warranty expired) condition rectified by replacement of right side drive shaft assembly. This item should last far longer (I had a 1995 Corolla 14 yrs & 172K miles with original cv boots intact

1. weather stripping will not stay on driver door 2. cd player of radio system was throwing out the 6 cd's as driving- replaced stereo. 3. under 70,000 miles- cv joint went out - replaced. Prior to replacement loud clunking sounds and steering difficult- other owners same issues I am reading. Needs recalled 4. appx 77.000 miles no warning alternator went out and was extremely hot and smelly-replaced. 5. appx 78,000 miles between 25-35 mph transmission keeps slipping. I was driving down a street and once on interstate it hit the other gear hard/clunked- Toyota dealer called Toyota and they said replace transmission. Currently in the shop. Called Toyota and filed a case- they respectively understand my concern, however, they did not seem concerned of the safety hazard of this issue and probability of this issue causing a death. I have friend same issue and I have read about this same issue on the internet. There needs to be a recall. Luckily it did not go out on me driving on the interstate going 70mpg. Scared of the vehicle and distrust competency of Toyota. Are they unwilling to admit the transmission problem is a safety issue? needs recalled or investigated please help the consumer. I am worried about others safety.

After I turned around the corner of etna St /derby St. In berkeley, the steering suddenly malfunctioned and the car veered to the roadside and hit a parked car. I tried to brake immediately. The impact was slight, but my car could not be moved any more. I called the police and the roadside assistance of my insurance company. The person from the roadside assistance told me that the steering mechanism broke and the front axle fell out. On the day following the incident, I reported it to Toyota cooperation and am currently waiting for their response.

Corolla

  • 61,000 miles
2010 Toyota Corolla the transmission will surge when trying to pass on the highway. When driving and trying to pass another vehicle there is a minor delay when the transmission shifts causing a jolt and fast acceleration. Also at low speeds coming up to a light and then it turns green but not fully stopped maybe 15 miles an hour the transmission will also surge. This seems like an ongoing problem and Toyota wants to do nothing about it this is ridiculous a car with 62,000 miles has this problem this needs to be recalled asap.

Check engine and vsc lights blinking. Hangs up in third gear. Had code pulled. Shift solenoid closed. This seems to be an ongoing problem with these cars. Dealerships just give you the runaround. Problem is caused by the failing ECU. This has been going on for years and no recall. This is not only a headache to drive but also unsafe.

I took my 2010 Toyota Corolla S in for service on 9/26/14 at victory Toyota of canton, mi 48188 for a regular service. All service has been completed at victory Toyota of canton, mi 48188 since I purchase the brand new vehicle from them. The service representative informed me that my car had a timing cover leak that was to cost me approximately $1,300 to fix and that if I continued to drive it the leak would get worse. I am out of my two year warranty time period. The service representative told me that my car was the 6th they'd seen in the last two weeks with the same issue and one of them was even as low as $18,000 miles. He stated that at some point there would probably be a recall. I called Toyota headquarters and opened case number [xxx] and wait to hear what their solution is. I advised that anything less than full repair by Toyota at no charge to me would be unacceptable. Such an issue should not potentially happen in a vehicle until 100,000 to 110, 000 miles. The fact that the service rep said that my car was the 6th they'd seen in the lat two weeks is a serious red flag. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I was driving my car down the highway going about 60mph and all of a sudden lost all engine power, with no warning, stutter, jolt or any sort of noise. I managed to coast to the shoulder but could not get my car to turn over and had to tow it away. Obd code reader would not connect with on board computer. When cranking the engine there was no spark to the coils.

Upon purchasing this car from carmax on 02/2012 there had been constant transmission issues that were not being resolved from the dealership. I had gone in and tried having my transmission looked at three times a the carmax dealership all of which told me that nothing was wrong with my car. On 07/26/2014 my 2010 Toyota's transmission failed and now needs a new one. This out of pocket expense is ridiculous for a car that was built in 2010 and for myself owning it for two years. Both the Toyota dealership and carmax dealership are not willing help assist the problem. I will never purchase a Toyota car again. Updated 4/24/2015
