The car was only 3 years old with around 45,000 miles on it when the problem with the AC started to occur. I recently had the AC unit replaced but the problem still persists. There is no indicator as to what the actual problem is with the AC. The previous Corolla I had a 96 and never had any issues. My father in law also has the exact same 2015 Corolla as I do and he is having issues with AC leakage as well ( different problem from my own but worth mentioning). If your looking to buy this year/model... I would skip as there are clearly issues with this model around the AC system.

Just after the warranty expired, the A/C went bad. I bought the car brand new from the Toyota dealer in Saint Lucia. The car is only 3 years old. It was extremely hard to drive in the hot Caribbean sun without A/C. My blood pressure elevated, because of the stress. I would arrive at work sweaty and my hair looks like a crazy fowl. The company in St Lucia asked that I pay 6800.00 XCD to replace the A/C Compressor. They did nothing to help.

Toyota was once a reputable company, but they have become the worst. they are not customer friendly. Honda has taken over as it relates to customer care and after service. I will never purchase a Toyota and promote their vehicle.

Shame on you Toyota and Beachcomber St Lucia.

Corolla LE

  • Automatic transmission

I noticed my A/C started going in and out almost a month ago, then just completely stopped blowing cold air (air coming out is hot). I had a mechanic look at it, since obviously my car is only about 3 years old and he told me that the air compressor is not working anymore, the pressure is super high on the "low end", and that I am going to have to have all the Freon drained and the lines taken apart to see if there's metal in it from the compressor possibly blowing up.

If this is the case, then I would also have to buy the condenser and fan as well. It came to my attention that the 2014-2015 models have an issue with the air compressor not working properly at idle and needed to be "updated" only under warranty, but of course Toyota does not inform you of that whatsoever. If I would have known that, I wouldn't be stuck driving my car in 100 degree weather with no A/C and arriving to work sweaty and gross.

It's really just frustrating and ridiculous, since this is the only reason I even bought a brand new car was to AVOID these types of issues.

Corolla S 1.8L 6speed

  • Manual transmission
  • 7,800 miles

We purchased this car the first of August, 2015, after ordering it special to get the manual transmission. We had no problems after we first started using the car, but noticed the air conditioning was not cooling the air as expected. However, we didn't need the AC much last fall, and now when we want to start using it on some of the unseasonably warm days we are experiencing here in Colorado, the AC does NOT cool the air! I currently have an appointment with our dealer to try to get it fixed, but after reading other complaints about other 2015 Corollas I am concerned!!

the A/C does not cool the air

When I took the car to our dealership to determine the problem with the AC, they discovered a tiny hole in the condenser near the bottom, driver's side. They claim it was caused by a rock puncturing the condenser which then leaked out the refrigerant. The entire condenser will have to be replaced. This is ridiculous! The design of the engine compartment is faulty, as there is no screen or other means of protecting this from happening again....repeatedly! The condenser is directly behind the grill, and the radiator is behind the condenser. They claim all cars are designed this way, but if so, this is a problem for all of them, and makes no logical sense at all. There are rocks on every highway in America of varying size....so do I have to expect this to happen again?....over and over and over???

The hole was so small it would have been very difficult to see had I not asked for them to show it to me. As far as I am concerned, it could have been there upon delivery! We had not used the AC last fall when we received delivery of the car, as the weather was cool....and of course through the winter as well. It was only this past couple of weeks with warm weather that we discovered the problem! I had the car in for the 5000 mile check-up, and it was not noticed then..but they may not have even tested the AC at that time....which should have been done as a matter of course with summer coming soon. There should be some type of screen to protect the condenser from this problem! And worst of all, our warranty will not cover this!!!

Unbelievable!!! Come on, Toyota....I expected more from you when purchasing this car!

We had a 2006 Corolla for 9 years and it had over 170,000 miles on it with no problems at all except for a water pump. We sold it to our son, and it is still running great!!! We certainly expected a similar experience with this car!
