I have a toytoa 2006 rav4 and my car had about 56000 miles on it. I noticed a clunking noise in the steering when I turn the wheel to the left. I took the car in for 60000 mil. service and told the mechanic about the noise.The mechanic heard the noise and checked out the steering column. In doing so the mechanic said there were two noises one he fixed by replacing a spring, but he could not fix the clunking noise. He said, he checked around with other Toyota mechanics and found the general consensus is the 2006 and 2007 Rav-4 are plagued with a poor steering design and many other owners report the same steering problem. I asked if there was a recall and he said no. I hope by reporting or bitching about the problem Toyota will recall the Rav-4 for its steering problems.
