Upon applying the brake of the car, it accelerated at an alarming rate at a busy intersection. I threw it into neutral, car continued alarming acceleration. I threw into park, car bucked like a bronko. I TURNED THE CAR OFF averting a serious collision. I turned on the ignition, car still in extreme acceleration mode! After 15 minutes I restarted motor and drove car to Toyota dealer. After checking the car, they said it was the floor mat sticking to the gas pedal. It was not the mat. The garage was dry, the car floor was dry, my boots were dry and the rug did not move. This is a dangerous malfunction problem, and the dealer did nothing to improve the malfunction. I will not drive the car again, and I cannot trust the dealer. I am extremely fortunate that I did not cause a serious accident! What recourse do I have?

Car went in to fix a different recall on Wednesday April 16th 2014. Some kind of a computer update. The next day I was pulling out of a parking spot going forward. I was in the parking lot at my job and going very slow, barely using the gas. The car then just accelerated and the RPM's were pretty high. I thought the idle was maybe set to high or gas pedal was stuck a little. I tapped the gas pedal but no difference. I had to completely brake and wait a while. Saturday morning, April 19th 2014, I was backing out of a driveway, again very slowly with my foot lightly on the brake. As I was starting to turn the steering wheel, the car accelerated again, only this time it was much worse than the last time. I could barely stop the car when I slammed on the brake and missed backing into a parked car by inches. Really, really scary. The car is back at the dealer. I am sure they will tell me they found nothing wrong. This is my third Toyota and I really love the brand but I am now changing my mind and I don't feel they are a safe car. I don't think I will buy Toyota again. I will probably go to a Ford. It was something I was looking at when I shopping around and bought this Rav 4.
