Brought my RAV4 to the dealer in Auburn, Mass. for the 5000 mile service. Mentioned the rust coming from under the bracket that hold the liftgate piston to the body. When they returned the vehicle they said they did nothing. This is normal. Could be the bolt rusting but not a big deal. Not a big deal because Toyotas are know for rust problems, i.e. Tacomas, Tundras, and 4Runners with rotted frames. Not sure if they even unscrewed the bolt to see where the rust was coming from. They could have lubricated the bolts if that was the problem. I would replace them with stainless steel, but who am I, just a stupid customer. Service manager offered to paint something but I'm not sure what since they didn't look into the problem. I left with rust showing under the bracket. That's Toyota of Auburn, Mass. Take your business somewhere else.
