THE THERMOSTAT AND THE HOUSING ARE ONE UNIT . BEFORE THE CAR SHOWED ANY SIGNS OF OVERHEATING (GAUGE IN DASH) THE THERMOSTAT HAD FAILED CAUSING PRESSURE ENOUGH FOR THE HOUSING TO BREAK IN HALF (DAEWOO SAFETY). THE HEAD GASKET HAD BLOWN. ALSO DAMAGE TO THE PISTON RINGS, VALVES. ONCE THE CAR SHOWED IT WAS OVERHEATING IT WAS DRIVEN 1/10TH OF A MILE TO A GAS STATION, SOMEHOW I DON'T SEE THE BREAKABLE HOUSING A SAFETY BENEFIT SINCE I NOW REQUIRE A NEW ENGINE AFTER 28000 MILES WHEN THE REGULAR MAINTAINCE WAS ALWAYS DONE.
