Beginning after we purchased our used Fiat 500L we began having intermittent issues with the trunk/boot lid not opening. The outside latch nor the keyfob would open the trunk. Trunk has to be opened using the emergency latch release which is not always easy to get to. Problem has been ongoing and often when a visit is planned to dealership the problem is not happening and therefore cannot be diagnosed. I have spoken with Fiat and unless we are willing to pay for the diagnosis fee at a dealership they are unable to assist us. The issue is known and can be easily found by a search for Fiat 500L boot or trunk lid on sites such as fiat500owners.com, fixya.com, fiatforum.com, and others. I will pass this site along to others so they can be reported and an investigation can be conducted and get this ongoing problem resolved. My wife is handicapped and we will be getting a newer motorized wheel chair that can be taken apart and stored in the trunk. The issue comes when you may or may not be allowed to open the trunk without crawling through the backseat to use the emergency trunk release or if bags or groceries are blocking access to the release. We love the vehicle but are not having any luck getting a known issue fixed. The trunk might open before leaving for a trip but quit working when you need to access it. There is not anything that makes the condition occur or prevent it from happening. There is an open case with Fiat but at this point they couldnt offer any resolution. Transmission seized, clutch smelled burnt and began to smoke which stalled the engine. The gears disabled and would not restart. The vehicle was stopped when this happened. Vehicle was towed to dealership and dealership stated that the car's response was "normal" I took my car to an independent mechanic who inspected the car and read the computer codes. The codes that displayed are C415H-50197. Dealer claims that code is non-existent.

Plus after recall, two times I was stop in a traffic light (complete stoped with my feet on the brake pedal) and my car make something like try to engage or hard shift drive. My 2014 Fiat 500L trekking began to produce a horrible smell while and cut off while I was driving making steering out of way of traffic behind me very difficult. The car went from going about 45-50 miles per hour to about 5 mph in a matter of a few second, everything locked up making steering virtually impossible and then finally coasted to a final stop. Upon me de ranking the car I was unable to shift it to drive at all. I had the car towed to the dealer which I purchased it from only 3 months earlier. I purchased the vehicle mid December and this happened in March. The dealer had car towed to a Fiat (clearlake Dodge/Jeep/Fiat). They initially replaced the transmission and other complimentary components. I was called to pick up my car after being in their possession for several months and told it was fixed, however within the 10 miles of leaving the lot the car did the same thing but this time on an overpass of a major freeway with an 18 wheeler truck behind me. I returned the car to clearlake Fiat. They kept it for several more days and had me to pick it up a second time; same result! in all I have returned my car over 4 times and have only had use of it for 3 months or less of the 11 months that I have owned it. I can no longer pay a car note for a car that seemingly can not be repaired it is destroying my finances and putting the little life of myself and family in grave danger every time I attempt to pick it up after being told that it has been repaired. I originally purchased the car with an extended warranty from carmax. However, I have been begging carmax, clearlake Fiat, the warranty company and my finance company for some assistance in remedying this crisis and have only gotten a run around and no answers, help, remedies or proper repair of my vehicle and as of today 11/16/2017 they still have my vehicle and no one returns my calls.

The radio does not work properly. An auto repair shop informed me that every Fiat he has seen has this problem and to see if it has been recalled. I am not able to use the camera on the car, the radio and I can't do anything on my dash board because none of the radio is working. The lights inside the car in the front do not work. I am not sure what happened to those form them to not work. I am not sure if that is because of the electrical system that has to do with the radio either.

Driving the car in 70 degree temperature. Drove the car approximately 3miles from our home to a drive through to get a drink. The car suddenly began smoking extensively from the engine compartment, smelled of something burning then died. Was able to get the car started long enough to move it from the drive then it died again and was able to roll into a parking spot. After restarting the accelerator was unresponsive. Bought the car only 13 days ago from a dealership that is connected to a Fiat dealer. Car had to be towed 45 miles to the Fiat dealer. Have not heard back yet as its the weekend.
