The vent selector will only rarely allow for the defrost or below dash options. So the heater will only blow in your face. The motor that controls the actuator is buried behind the dash and requires major surgery to replace. The gears in the motor are made from a brittle plastic that apparently breaks quite frequently. I have seen this complaint from lots of owners when searching how to fix the issue. Ford has done nothing to correct the issue.
