The streering is THE Safety element of a vehicle, next to the brakes. The steering went out on a straight road on our way to Zion National Park. Had the steering gone out while in the winding roads we would have likely plunged off the side 100+ feet to our deaths.
Ford was completely unresponsive and said that the part failure was not covered by the drivetrain warranty, the car being 6,000 miles over the standard warranty meant that we are expected to pay for it. The dealer charged me $2,100, Ford said "too bad", not covered. This KEY safety part blowing out without warning makes the FLEX unsafe and people should avoid buying it!
