On several occasions my 2007 Ford Freestyle has lurched forward without me stepping on the gas. Typically it happens as I am idling and I go to step on the brake (forcing me to break hard), or when I am easing up on the break (I.e., instead of slowly moving, the car lunges forward).

My 2007 Ford Freestyle lunges in both forward and reverse occasionally. Usually heavily applying the break will stop the car. This typically happens at very low speeds when I am parking the car or getting out of a parking space (at the grocery store, ect...). the instances occur more often in the summer time, in hot weather and when the A/C is on. It is a very dangerous defect, especially since it occurs often in parking lots or at school when I am dropping my kids off, as there are lots of pedestrians. I have submitted a previous complaint on this issue, but have heard nothing. This problem has occurred for the past 3 years.

The failure occurred intermittently; however, over time had become progressively worse and more consistent. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The vehicle was not repaired. There was an investigation under NHTSA action number: PE11018 (vehicle speed control) that may be related to the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

Throttle body replaced 6/7/10 due to lunging while car was being parked and one occurrence in reverse, as well as car dieing when pulling out into oncoming traffic. There were many occurrences of lunging and acceleration pause before taking into dealership. The first time I took it in they could not duplicate issue. Next time we were able to duplicate and they replaced the throttle body. Car seemed to function properly until July 2011. Exact same behavior is now taking place lunging typically when idling then moving to acceleration and then stopping such as at a light or parking. Also, paused acceleration (potentially could die, acts like it will) when pulling out from a stopped position. Again, I took it into the dealership and they could not duplicate. I am waiting for a monitor to be placed on the car to confirm activity and problem parts. Everyone we have spoken with assumes the throttle body is the issue again but being such an expensive part, confirmation would be preferred before replacing again.

About three months ago I bought a 2007 Ford Freestyle. One day when me, my daughter, and my granddaughter went shopping, in warner robins Georgia my car stopped right in the middle of traffic and cut off. We just about had people hit us in all different directions. So I turned the car off and turned it back on and drove into the parking lot and called the people I bought the car from. They told us to bring the car too them. Well a couple days later when I was suppose to take the car to them it turned off two times in one day! I had bought all of the available warranty I could buy when I bought the car, but today the dealership called me back and said that it is the throttle body, and that no matter if you fix it, it can continue to mess up (and it is not on the warranty!!!), and the cost of the part to fix it is $670. I am unsatisfied and scared to drive it and I feel like its a big safety risk!!! I don't want to continue driving it with it turning off in the middle of traffic. It makes me scared and I am nervous for my family!! I have read on the internet that alot of people have had problems with the throttle body for there 2007 Ford Freestyle!!

My car has been lunging for the last few weeks, and I almost hit another car. Last week, when I got in, the wrench light came on. I immediately started driving to the dealer. I lost power for a few seconds and then my car would hardly shift. The lunging was the really scary thing, and now they are saying my transmission needs to be replaced, and it is out of warranty by one month.

2007 Ford Freestyle crossover - the car will suddenly lunge forward, sometimes the motor shuts down and the "red wrench" light comes on. This has been happening frequently in the last month. I have called the dealership and they say they think it may be due to throttle problems. Although I have not done an extensive investigation into when the above happens, I have noticed when the air conditioner is on high, it happens. This may be coincidental but nevertheless I have noticed the surge when the air condition is on. I have researched the internet for others with this problem and there certainly seems to be many people with the exact same problem. There is definitely a safety issue with this in that if you do not currently have your foot on the brake, the car will lunge forward (possibly hitting another car, a pedestrian or have even having a deadly accident). This problem needs to be considered a recall by Ford and repaired free of charge by Ford. This should be done before someone is seriously harmed.

My 2007 Ford Freestyle revs up by itself. When backing into my parking space I have to keep my foot on brakes back up very very slowly due to the car wanting to lung back on its own. Not able to use my A/C or heater. When A/C is on the car really revs up and then eventually cuts off with all the light being lit up, the wrench and engine lights up, then I have to wait about 5 minutes before the car cuts back on. This is very dangerous as when im waiting at a stop light the car will lunge forward by itself, I could hit someone accidentally or I could just run into another car. The car seems to have a mind of its own, its scary. I pay for this car and I cant even use the A/C or heater my kids and I just have to suffer. I cant afford all these problems as I have six children to feed. They need to take care of this problem it could be life or death.

When I am going at a low speed the car goes dead. Example being when I turn in my driveway or into a parking space. Also the car surges and jumps forward or sometimes backwards when I put it in reverse or park. It is beginning to happen all the time and is dangerous! I am so frustrated I don't know what to do. I actually ran across a site where tons of others are having the same problem. I do not have $750 plus to pay on fixing something that Ford is well aware they fouled up and did nothing about. As with all the other cases my A/C quit long ago. I feel they should be held accountable and a recall issued so they can pay for the repair of an item that should have been sold in proper working order. Thank you.

In May 2010 my 2007 Ford Freestyle began to accelerate involuntarily when entering or leaving a parking space. At that time the vehicle was serviced by bob turner, the problem was corrected, but only temporarily. Approximately two weeks ago the problem has returned exactly as it was before. The vehicle will accelerate involuntarily when parking about 90% of the time. I am very concerned about the safety of driving a vehicle with this type of problem.

This car is a dangerous weapon. It almost ran over my child. Literally. It self accelerated while she was crossing in front of it. If I had not been paying attention and hit the brake immediately she would be dead, I am sure of it. This car self accelerates in forward and reverse, with no warning while idle. I had it fixed once (it was the famous throttle body) they cleaned it. Car ran fine for a while then started doing it again. Can't drive the car for fear it will do it again. Can't trust Ford to fix it as they have lied continually and did not fix it when they said they did the first time. Can't sell it B/C I would feel terrible if someone got hurt B/C I passed it on. I also had to replace the transmission once and now am having transmission troubles again. I believe the carbon build up on these throttle bodies are breaking down the transmissions. Funny thing is Ford no longer makes this particular transmission as per their corporate office. It is criminal what they are doing. I will testify in any court and tell my story. A mother who almost kills their child is someone that will not stop fighting for what is right. I don't know how the people at Ford sleep at night knowing they know these cars are out their and that their main drivers are moms and grandmoms. This is beyond the money lost on this vehicle, this is a fight for justice and what is right and most of all, public safety.
