Daily drive is 30 miles to work (hwy/downtown). It has been raining the past 2 days. I pulled into our parking garage and the brake pedal suddenly got rock hard when I was trying to slow down, our truck just kept going forward. It felt like I lost all braking power and crawled to a stop. I reversed into a parking spot and it did the same thing. I pulled forward and it was still happening. I parked and went to work.
I went back out to check on it a few hours later in case I needed to arrange a ride and/or tow truck, but the brakes had seemed to be working again. I drove the truck around the lot a few times and parked under a well lit area and checked the Brake Fluid level which was in its operating range of capacity. I checked under for any leaks and didn't see any. I went back to the original place I parked and the only liquids on the ground was rain water on the exterior of the parking spot.
Don't know what caused or fixed it but glad I wasn't going hwy speeds to find out.
Brake vacuum pump failing on 2015 Yukon/Silverado becoming very common. The new replacement vacuum pump does not look anything like the old defective one. GMC knows there is a problem and is making a different vacuum pump to replace the defective ones but will not replace at their expense.
almost got in an accident on 8/4/2015, brake pedal got rock hard causing truck keep going forward. somehow I was able to manage to stop literately an inch from another car.
