Check engine light came on along with stop engine and numerous other warning lights. Scanned codes and got P0A0F engine failed to start and P261F water pump stall code. Restarted car and check engine light stayed on but was able to be driven 100 miles.

Symptom came back 3 months later and I used the same procedures to get rid of it. No problems for almost a year after that.

On February 2021, code came back and I decided to diagnose the issue. Found nothing wrong on the electrical side, so I ordered a water pump from a korean parts website as the dealer list price is $1030 just for the part! They sell you the entire pump module and not the pump separately. The problem has been fixed since then.

I took apart the old water pump and found out that it was actually seizing. There were metal shavings on the magnet parts of the pump and I found that the plastic cracked and allowed the coolant to rust the metal underneath causing the plastic to swell and seize the pump. I purchased a used unit and took it apart as well and found the same problem. I would have no issues if Hyundai would provide the pump assembly separate from the electronic portion as it's 100 percent possible to replace separately. $1030 list price is highway robbery.

Every morning when you parked on the hill or down hill (drive way), the engine won't start. The engine locks the break, traction, ABS, parking brake - all lights on, but when I put on R or D and let the car go down a little then the car will start.

All this happened after the engine recall.

So I brought my car to the Hyundai dealer and next day told me that I need to replace the battery in order to proceed with diagnostic it will cost me $295.85.

I'm 100% sure this is not the battery problem.
