In the middle of a road trip, and whenever I would turn off the car it would randomly beep at me for no reason. The noise sounded like it was coming from the trunk (convertible) area. The beeping would continue every 2-3 minutes or so whenever the car was off indefinitely.

After doing a lot of research, I managed to stumble upon the beeping indicated a fault with the convertible top. After a ton of cussing and concerns for my savvings, further research indicated that usually the first thing to check were the bolts that latch the trunk to lock. Sure enough, after doing all sorts of gymnastics to remove trim and get to the latch, the bolts were barely hanging on and I could rock the latch back and forth by hand. A quick tightening of the bolts and the putting the top down and back up cleared the issue and saved a $125.00 dealer diagnostic fee + whatever they would charge to tighten 2 bolts (my guess would be somewhere around $100 since that's what a TIRE ROTATION runs at the dealer as well).
