The 2016 Infiniti QX80 offers "Infiniti Connection", a safety and convenience service. I purchased this vehicle in August of 2017 and subscribed to the service. Prior to subscribing to the service, a service representative advised that I needed to upgrade the TCU unit in my vehicle, and I was told that I could have the unit upgraded at the Infiniti dealership or a Nissan dealership. The Nissan dealership is 30 miles closer to me so I scheduled an appointment with that dealership. I went to the appointment and left thinking that it was ready to activate the system.

I come to find out, Nissan did not know what the Infiniti TCU was. However, they sent me on my way after charging me for the service and telling me that I was all set. The Infiniti Connection representative told me that the Nissan dealership could not complete what was needed and scheduled me with the Infiniti dealership to upgrade the TCU unit. I went to the appointment they upgraded the system, I paid for the upgrade and they sent me on my way.

The following day I called Infiniti Connection to subscribe to the service and after several attempts, I was told that they must of put in a defective TCU unit, therefore I would need to take it back to the dealership for them to once again replace it. That took place once again (a new TCU). The following day and several days following I contacted the service and was told again and again that the TCU was defective and once again took my vehicle back to have it replaced, and now 8+ months later with my vehicle being at the dealership for 6 of those months, I am still without a working service, and without any solution to correct the problem.

Let me say, the closest Infiniti dealership is 80 miles from my home and work. The dealership did provide me with loaners while my vehicle was at the dealership for the 6 months. Infiniti offers a service that they are not able to provide without an explanation to the cause. If I was to trade or sell my vehicle at this time, a Carfax would document the worked performed decreasing the value of this vehicle. This service is an important safety benefit and is important to me and my family.
