A seris of issues plaque this model. Changed throttle body twice but car keep showing stability control not available, throttle body actuation issues with P2119, P2118 codes among several others. Car shakes and shuts down in the middle of driving. At idle, the car rev meter goes up and down and then shuts off. I have taken this car to galpin Jaguar over 5 times with the same problem and each time the problem remains the same. I have since taken it to another mechanic two more times paid thousands of dollars to replace parts and still the problem exists. This has been going on for literally months. Everything I have been told, I got it fixed yet, the problem still exist. These set of issues happens at idle, when driving on freeways, and city streets. I have called aaa so often I have no more. Another issue- the car will stuck in drive gear and stop and shuts off. I have even replaced emc computer. The issue started last year March but stopped when I changed throttle body and lasted about 6 months, then started acting around September again and its at the mechanic now and they cant find the issue still.

This vehicle has had numerous"unusual" issues from "stick-to-your-fingers" control buttons that were changed under warranty to a faulty alarm system that goes off randomly once activated, to exceptionally slow touch screen functions that can only be controlled via touch screen;placing driver in hazardous situations distracted by the significant delay in response' not knowing if command was received and processed.to interior upholstery:ceiling, headliner coming unglued and undone in a relatively short period of time (5 yrs) with particles coming from glue/foam polluting the interior air causing breathing problems;while the manufacturer destined the vehicle to a hot & humid destination.to the major 2 catastrophic gauge/sensor failures:the water pump breaking, which maybe ok, but when the car temperature gauge doesn't show an increase in operating temp and stays dead center at normal operating temperature and you drive it so you can get to safety of your home since it is not "over-heating" and the steering wheel seizes on you. You ask the dealership and a vague cover-up answer ridden with hesitancy, guilt & a sense of "oh, its normal for the car!" and no remedy offered or issued (maybe I should touch the engine to make sure its not overheating?!). and now this episode:the 2nd catastrophic gauge failure:the vehicles oil is at 25% capacity (only 25% full) no oil pool under the car at any time just a few liquid drops of what seemed to be ac condensation. The car doesn't show an oil pressure drop warning or overheating or any relative warning. Mind you the vehicle does not have a "dip-stick" to check oil levels. The only warning is a service required statement that is pre-programmed at certain intervals by the manufacturer. Even if I did not change the oil exactly on time and I'm a bit late, no warning about low oil content/low oil pressure. Documentation available.

The contact owned a 2011 Jaguar Xj. While driving on a wet road at 55 mph, the contact lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle fishtailed down the road into the guardrail cable. The front end of the vehicle was destroyed. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained head and rib injuries, which required medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The issue recurred on numerous occasions. In addition, the emergency brake malfunctioned. The dealer diagnosed that the battery was low. After having the vehicle diagnosed at auto zone, the battery was tested as being normal. The contact continued to lose control of the vehicle's traction. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 31,552.

2011 xj is exhibiting problems similar to those contained in NHTSA campaign id number: 10V332000 for the xk and xf. Specifically, vehicle engine will stutter as if about to stall, which is most noticeable within the first 30 minutes after start up, but persists in varying degrees at all times, especially when idling. Problem is progressively worsening. Problem reported to dealer who had indicated a software update in the future should resolve the issue, but no indication given on when that will happen. Problem sounds similar to NHTSA campaign id number: 10V332000, which notes a crash could occur. Accordingly, this should be investigated to confirm if the 2011 xj should be included in this recall.

I leased a brand new, 2011 Jaguar xj supercharged, and have experienced several problems within the first 1,000 miles, the first of which presents a severe safety risk. 1) the tft digital speedometer display will vanish without warning. When this happens, you have no idea how fast you are going. The problem usually happens when exiting a dark garage and entering daylight, but also has happened while on the highway. The digital dash will remain blank for up to 15 seconds usually before slowly reappearing. Problem does not happen all the time, but it is distressing and dangerous when it does. 2) audio and navigation systems have become completely inoperative. When navigation was operating, it was directing you to make impossible driving maneuvers. 3) power windows will not remain closed. 4) numerous other problems, though not necessarily safety issues (have been reported to dealer).
