Lexus knows the brake actuator was a problem. They closed the any assistance on this issue. Most people are saying $3000 to fix. Brake safety for a faulty part should be Lexus and Toyota's responsibility.

problem #1

RX400H LX V6

Brakes suddenly started "chirping" at every stop. Followed by the ABS failing and the car skidding to a screeching halt. Took it to a local shop but they said it was beyond their ability, so I drove it an hour to the nearest Lexus dealer. Told I needed a Hydraulic Control Assembly: Actuator malfunction..... and several other problems; total $4176.

While waiting, I researched Lexus brake issues (they are many and varied as it turns out) and told them this should be covered under one of the many brake recalls by Toyota/Lexus. I was told there had been a "warranty enhancement" letter on this (which I had never received). It had ended just before my issue occurred. I asked for consideration as they had known of the problem and it was very close to the cut-off. They "ran it up the line" and all said "No". I left without the repairs, choosing to drive without the ABS until I could check further.

I contacted Lexus corporate and went through their chain of command as well. They would do nothing as, "I do not have my car serviced at a dealership and am not considered a "valued" customer". (We have two lexus models but live a good distance from any dealerships, so use local shops). Their attitude was rude and dismissive. Since this is an on-going problem with Lexus/Toyota and they are putting drivers at risk, all the while having full knowledge of the situation, I refuse to overpay them to fix it.

Have tried numerous other mechanics but most won't touch it because it's a hybrid. I have continued to drive it carefully, without the ABS, but now an alarm has come on making it nearly impossible to drive the car. At that point, the ABS started "grabbing" the rear brakes and have worn them down to the rotors. No one can stop the alarm, or prevent the ABS from destroying the rear brakes so the car sits.

I am disgusted with Lexus; a company once known for quality, but facing massive recalls and class action lawsuits for innumerable issues with their cars. I am getting rid of both of my cars and will NEVER buy Lexus/Toyota again. (My wife's previous Toyota was also plagued by problems). I'm in on the next class action vs Lexus for their total lack of concern for customer safety.
