CX-5 Touring 2.5L

I own a 2015 CX-5 with a little over 49K miles. A loud wining noise recently started happening at speeds over 10 mph and got louder as the the speed of the car increased (not RPM). Took my car to Mazda for service and they said it's a known problem (TSB #05-002/19). The fix is to replace my transmission. The cost, including parts and labor is $5,300. This is out of my financial reach. On top of that, they charged me $180 to diagnose the problem.

I spoke to Mazda Customer Service repeatedly and they refuse to help. I'm currently without a car for the foreseeable future since the car is not drivable. Even worse, the part is not available anywhere in North America and there's no ETA for it's arrival. It may take months to fix my car. I can't afford a rental car. This is an extremely large hardship for me.

My primary reason for purchasing this Mazda was the quality that the company publicizes. Certainly you want to believe that Mazda will stand behind their product. Especially when it's a known defect.

My warranty ran out on 7/9/2021. It started whining about 8/3/2021. I had it scheduled to go to a transmission shop on 8/20/2021... Well... the transmission went on 8/12/2021. I need a rebuild. I emailed Mazda, to plea about only being over one month of warranty with only 56K miles! And I still got told no. This is ridiculous, I will never buy another Mazda again. I see that there are plenty of problems with the transmissions, and no recall.

CX-5 ES V6

  • Automatic transmission

First of all I want to express that I will never purchase another Mazda ever!! Mazda headquarters did nothing to help aid or replace the faulty transmission. The car gave no forewarning I woke up one morning and it started the car and it started whining and progressively got worse. I have owed Dodge, Toyota's, Nissan's, and Honda's but never have I encountered this, Two days later Mazda said the transmission had to be replaced.

The CX-5 had on 82k miles and out of nowhere it just started to make noise. Secondly, I have taken this car into the Mazda repair shop (twice) under 20k miles and it makes a "popping sound" from the driver's left wheel. The pop sound is made when I'm turning left. Believe it or not they said they found nothing wrong except they removed rocks/gravel from the wheel (which did not fix the problem). When I bought this car I truly believed Mazda sold a premium SUV. At first, I was very pleased with my purchased and believed Mazda would stand by the quality and integrity of the vehicle. Because Mazda denied to help aid or replace my transmission at no cost I will never do business with them. The car didn't even have 100,000 miles, they should have replaced my transmission or at least aided in the replacement cost. I urge anyone considering buying a Mazda to reconsider

This is the worst costly experience I have been thru and I do not wish it upon anyone!

CX-5 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 96,000 miles

This is ridiculous! They say they wont pay any because its over 60,000 miles but a brand new transmission off the lot should last well over this. Only drove for a little over 2 years, mostly highway. There is a history of these problems, needs to be addressed.
